Effective May 1, 2011, a new licensing requirement went into effect, making Illinois a Broker-Only State. This means that your current Salesperson License will no longer be valid and you will need to obtain a new license. All licensees with a Salesperson's license must transition to a Broker’s license by April 30, 2012, by either passing the proficiency exam or taking a transition course.

One way to obtain your new license is to take the Salesperson Proficiency Exam. YOU MUST PASS THE EXAM ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. If you don’t pass, you will need to take a Transition Course. Your second option is to take a transition course. Licensees who complete the 30-hour Salesperson to Broker transition course will be exempt from CE requirement for the 2012 renewal.
