The state of Colorado has a number of recognition agreements with other states . If you are currently licensed in another state, please review the license recognition agreements below:

FULL LICENSE RECOGNITION

Candidates with active licenses from the below states have a Full Recognition Agreement and can apply for a Colorado License without further education or examination:

Alabama, Alberta, Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

LIMITED LICENSE RECOGNITION

Candidates with active licenses from states with a Limited Recognition Agreement can apply for a Colorado License but must first pass the State portion of the Colorado Real Estate Exam. Limited Recognition means that Colorado will accept an applicant for licensure in Colorado from these jurisdiction’s current licensees with limited examination and or pre-licensing education.

Florida , Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Virginia, and Washington.

State Portion of Exam and Courses Required (Annual Commission Update and 24-hour Real Estate Closings course):

Ohio

NO LICENSE RECOGNITION

Candidates with active licenses from states with No Recognition Agreement must complete the Colorado Associate broker license exam preparation program before applying for a Colorado Real Estate Broker Associate License. The jurisdictions listed below do not participate in licensee recognition with Colorado:

Alaska, Arizona, British Columbia, California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Guam, Hawaii, Manitoba, Michigan, Nevada, Newfoundland , New Brunswick, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Northwest Territories, North Carolina, Nova Scotia, Nunavut Territory, Ontario, Puerto Rico, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Texas, Vermont, Virgin Islands, and Wisconsin.
